One of the best things about having a sister less than 16 months older than you,
is that on those days and nights when you feel miserable, there is someone to do aerobics with. Someone who will laugh at you and push you over and pluck your eyebrows.
One of the best things about having a brother that has a sort of natural charm and pleasantness,
is that when his self conscious girly girlfriends come over, they bring pretty, low fat , cupcakes. They also leave their pets with you when they go overseas so this week, we welcome Georgie Porgie the mouse (mouse MOUSE as in Algernon-mouse not like hamster-mouse)
One of the best things about having a mother who gave up her bold, beautiful literary ambitions for the financial stability of a corporate job, is that she is determined not to let you make the same mistake. reading doesnt have to be a guilty pleasure and math doesnt have to be an obligation

it looks incredible

they think we need to learn the virtue and value of hard work and resilience. they think thats where the missing chink is. thats why we burn out we give up we stop caring we forget we fail them. they think so little of us, that we are lesser versians of themselves. in truth, being young has its own worth and insight.
we feel more than they think, think more than they expect, expect more than they can provide. so what they should be doing is getting to know us better. maybe if they asked for our dreams and ambitions they would understand why good grades means absolutely nothing to us.
and maybe if they tried respecting us as real, proper, sentient people for once, we would feel the security and confidence needed to keep pummeling furiously.
if they didnt scoff when we said we want to be
magicians
diplomats
photographers
librarians
cafe owners
fashion journalists
broadway actors
singers
journalists
if they sat and listened to Yeats
